How ready is your business for AI?

Twelve quick questions give you a score out of 100, your stage, a bar for each of six dimensions, and three things to do next, matched to where you are rather than where a vendor wants you to be.

Takes about 3 minutes. Your answers stay in your browser.

What the score measures

AI readiness is not about how much technology you own. It is whether your people, your processes and your information are set up so that AI can do useful work, and whether anyone would notice the difference. The assessment scores six dimensions, two questions each, and turns the total into a stage.

Skills

How comfortable your team is with everyday AI tools, and whether anyone has been shown how to use them well.

Use cases

Where AI is doing work for you today, and whether you have a list of what it could take on next.

Data and tools

How organised your systems and information are. AI can only work with what it can see.

Governance

A written policy, how personal data is handled in AI tools, and the EU AI Act duties that already apply.

Leadership

Whether someone owns it, has time for it and has a budget. Nothing moves without an owner.

Results

Whether you know what repetitive work costs you now, and whether you measure what AI gives back.

The four stages

Your score out of 100 puts you at one of four stages. Each has a different next step, and most businesses we meet sit in the first two.

  • Starting out0 to 24AI is not part of how the business runs yet. The first steps are cheap and quick to show results, and do not need new systems.
  • Experimenting25 to 49People are trying tools, but nothing is systematic. The gains are there, they are not being captured or shared.
  • Building50 to 74AI is doing work in some processes and leadership is behind it. The next step is to connect the pieces and measure the return.
  • Scaling75 to 100AI is part of how the business works, with ownership, budget and results you can point to. Few businesses are here.

How to use your result

Read the three focus cards first. They are picked from your weakest dimensions, because that is where a small effort moves the score most. A low Governance score, for example, is quicker to fix than a low Data score, and it removes risk at the same time. If you already use AI in a few places, the Results dimension is usually the one to work on: once you can say what a process saves, the next decision is easy.

Scores are only as honest as the answers, so answer for how things are rather than how they should be. Running it again in six months is a fair way to see what has changed. If you want to see which legal duties sit behind the Governance questions, the free AI Act checker lists them for your situation.

Common questions

How long does the assessment take?

About three minutes. There are twelve questions, two for each of the six dimensions, and each one has four answers to choose from.

What do I get at the end?

A score out of 100, your stage from Starting out to Scaling, a bar for each of the six dimensions, and three recommendations matched to your weakest areas. You can print it or save it as a PDF.

Is anything stored?

No. Your answers stay in your browser and are gone when you refresh. We do not see them unless you choose to send them to us.

Is this the same as an AI audit?

No. This is a self-assessment based on your answers. An AI audit is a review we do with you of your processes, tools and data, and it ends with a prioritised plan. The score is a useful place to start that conversation.

Who is it for?

Owners and managers of Irish businesses who want a quick, honest read on where they stand with AI, whether they have not started or are already using it in several places.
